I'm David and I'm the creator of Macs Vleis Kombuis (translated to Macs Meat Kitchen)

I was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa and from a very young age was launched into the world of food. My Dad was a Butcher and I would watch him make Boerewors. The skill, time and passion he would put into making Boerewors, looking back a passion I wish I had shown an interest in.

I came to the UK in 2007 at 20 years old and started from scratch. I started working in hotels where my passion for food really began. Ive been lucky enough to work for Royal Cambridge Hotel and Hilton and over the years my knowledge and skills have grown. I can really appreciate tasty and authentic food.

As many South African's will agree, starting a new life in a different country is tough and having some of those home comforts in a difficult time can ease that struggle. Myself included, I found that the UK had some home comforts but either at an extortionate price or the taste was not the same.

Ive been on a personal mission for a few years now, trying to find Boerewors that have that authentic taste of South Africa and decided that I could make my own. Ive been experimenting with spices and flavour profiles for while now and finally created a blend that not only has the authentic flavours of South Africa but has no artificial ingredients for preservation. All our Boerewors not only have fresh ingredients but are affordable too.
